THRIVING TINY!

The Landing Spot

Right over the Kansas/Missouri state line is a teeny tiny town where our Hideaway Tiny Community rests. We have proudly set our claim to lot 3 and cannot wait to see our home land there. The land currently houses four other tiny homes and is soon adding two more. While the visionaries of the community still have many projects underway, they have already brought to life a dog park, a vegetable garden, a common area and a sense of belonging for those who call this place home.

The quiet and calm of the area is settling. While some would argue, it is “out there” and “a lot of country”, you tend to walk a bit slower and take a few more deep breaths of fresh air. The community is surrounded by trees and Evie has convinced us it is the magical forest from Frozen II. While there are no water spirits running through the creek or fire forces leaping through branches, I agree there is a bit of magic in the simplicity and beauty that surrounds you.

Despite the challenges that come along with going tiny, I still have big visions for what it could mean to live here. I can’t wait to see Evie enjoy the playground; a giant open space intended for little legs to run until they’re so tired they dream of ladybugs, fireflies and open skies each night. I can’t wait to see Jordan teach Evie how to garden. I can’t wait to make smores around the fire pit, listening to the kids laugh and drinking good beer with our neighbors. I can’t wait to bring an exhausted Momo and Eliot home from the dog park and watch Jordan’s eyes bug out at the amount of mud they have on them.

There will, of course, be challenges with this transition and new style of living, I don’t don rose-colored glasses, but rather, I remain confident that the positives and freedoms this will allow us will outweigh any negatives. Our landing spot has been secured… now to downsize… really REALLY downsize. More to come on that- wish me luck!

Good luck with everything! I’m sure it will be amazing. My husband has mentioned a couple times that he would like for us to have land and live out in the country, with a good distance between neighbors and the noise. My response is always, “Tyler is as country as I get”. Now, after about two weeks of minimal outside exposure, I’m thinking a good piece of land away from it all where my girls can run free and explore, sounds wonderful. The feeling may just be momentary, only time will tell. I am thankful for my backyard (I’ve told my 19 yr old she can find a tiny home and we’ll set her up back there when she’s ready to move out 😊)....I plan to keep working on my backyard escape, spend more time minimize and reorganize my home, my thoughts and my behavior, during these trying times. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to your insight. ❤️ Take care!!

I agree that there is something therapeutic about reorganizing a home and minimizing! Tyler is a great place to live- enjoy!

It sounds like you want your kids laughing while drinking beer 😆
