Warning… this blog contains images that will make you want to live in a tiny house immediately. Ok, Ok, it might not be that drastic for you but I hope it does help you see that a family of three with two fur babies can live very comfortably in 425 square feet. The Blue Haven Bungalow arrived in all her glory on August 2, 2020 . Our talented and gracious builder (check out their page here) leveled her out and helped us get her up and running with power and water. Since then, we have spent the last four days getting everything unpacked. This blog will focus on the interior and I’ll do another that shows our outdoor setup once it is all finished. Evie’s loft was the first room I tackled. It was important for me to have the space finished so she could have a little place of peace in the midst of the move- in chaos. The verdict? She loves her loft! Our loft isn’t nearly as exciting but it turned out exactly how I had wanted—clean, simple and cozy. We have a queen-sized bed, two nightstands, a mounted tv and dressers for clothing storage. The main room area is the perfect place to drink a cup of coffee and curl up with a book. (I’m actually drinking coffee and writing this on the chaise lounge). It features a giant window that lets in a huge amount of natural light and I used a lot of linen/wood textures plus gold and blue accents to bring it all together. I think it lends itself to a clean, sheek boho vibe (I have no idea if that’s a thing but it’s the only way I could think to describe it. Let me know if you think of a better way). The kitchen. I. LOVE. THIS. KITCHEN! With the custom, under the ladder pantry we have lots of storage! The white quartz counter tops look beautiful and contrast nicely with the rich, blue lower cabinets. The kitchen sink is the deepest sink I’ve ever had and hides any dirty dishes that are waiting to be cleaned. We have stainless steel oven, dishwasher, and microwave. It’s small but beautiful and extremely functional. We’re using the main floor bedroom as a designated living room/office. I found the coolest couch that folds out into a bed for guests and J and I have our closets and a desk in the room. We also installed a flat screen tv for family movie nights. Under the stairs, a closet was created and keeps coats, sweaters and briefcases tucked away from sight. I think this might be my favorite room in the house. Do you see those giant windows!? I carried the same style through to this room with a slightly different flax linen set of curtains. Pops of blue and gold are here too and some boho patterns to complete the look. At night when the lamps are on it is extremely cozy and welcoming. The porcelain throne room is where we splurged a bit. We invested on a tankless water heater (if you go tiny- DO THIS!). This allows for hot water on demand and the shower is considered huge for a tiny house. As a mama of a three year old, it was important for me that this room be functional and a retreat. Storage is not an issue in this room! With the vanity, mirror cabinet, floor to ceiling cabinets and over the toilet cabinet we have tons of space to keep everything tucked away while still having room for a washer/dryer combo. Welp, that’s it folks! You’ve officially seen The Blue Haven. I already have so much joy living here. Each room makes my heart happy and I feel at home. I know there will be some adjusting but definitely NO comfort sacrifices. Stay tuned for more blogs where I will show you our outdoor set up as well as featuring some of my favorite pieces in the house. If there are tiny living topics you are curious about, let me know! AND if you’re thinking about going tiny, reach out! I love to geek out about efficiency, layouts, etc.
