It’s been two weeks since we moved into our Blue Haven Bungalow. Have there been adjustments? Yup. Have there been sacrifices? NO- I mean it! I really don’t feel like I’ve “given anything up” with 425 square feet. Actually, there are many aspects of this home that are quickly making it my favorite space we've lived. Additionally,  I have quickly gained a sense of community and pride that comes with owning our tiny home.

After my last post, featuring the inside space, I got some requests to show the outdoor space. Going tiny usually means your use of outdoor space matters ( A LOT!) so it was important to us to make our area usable and inviting for both us and the fur babies. Take a look at what we’ve done and let me know what you think!

We erected a temporary picket fence to ensure our dogs stayed close and safe. This also gives them the freedom to come and go from the inside and outside via the dog door. We have two content pups and a fence that is sturdy yet easily removable to go with us.

We bit the bullet and “winterized” our tiny home now versus waiting. This essentially means, we put insulation and skirting around the bottom to keep out the cold winds and prevent freezing of pipes. I was able to find used skirting that matched my blue and white color theme and we finished this all under $200! This setup will also help deter critters from making their tiny home beneath our tiny home.

Our pallet deck is what I am most proud of. Our awesome neighbor, brought pallets home from work for me. J and I used the pallets as our base and placed new wood on top. I stained it to protect it from all from the elements. Yesterday, we leveled it and put the edging on; this morning we enjoyed the fruits of our labor by drinking morning coffee on the deck and listening to the birds. This was a huge up-cycle project for us and I am so pleased with how it turned out!

I foresee a lot of front porch sittin, barbecues and wine nights in our future at this little outdoor oasis we’ve managed to create. You ready to go tiny yet!? Feel free to message me and I'll tell you how we got started on this amazing adventure!
