This tiny house is a direct reflection of it's owners' personalities and style. Lovingly designed and crafted, the functionality and upcycled items are a beautiful blend of old and new. Join me as I take a tour of this 325 square foot tiny house with it's owners, Iris and Justine.

After the tour, I sit down and have a Q&A session with the owners so they can share their experience as full-time Tiny Home goers. This is a must watch for anyone thinking of going Tiny!  (Oh, and there is a super cute dog named Willow!)

Tiny by Choice

“Well maybe after living in that tiny house of yours for a bit, you can afford to buy a big house” the older gentleman stated. He was not trying to be patronizing, or an elitist, he truly thought we lived tiny because we had no other choice. Perhaps he thought we were in financial straits or this was the “best we could do at the time”, but he certainly had never considered that we CHOOSE to live tiny.

Yep, you read that right. We have consciously, deliberately made this decision. We could carry a hefty mortgage, but we choose not to. We could afford to furnish a 2000 square foot house, but we choose not to. We could have a 2 car garage packed to the brim with extra toys, but we choose not to. We’ve chosen tiny- a lifestyle that isn’t for everyone but it is one that we have embraced and have no immediate plans to turn away from.
I know it’s not conventional and I know it may seem strange but it is a beautiful life that has taught us respect and joy for each item we own. It has freed us up to pay triple (Yep, TRIPLE on our student debts). And it has shifted our mindsets over to experiences versus stuff. For me, personally, it has helped me get balance back in my life and gave me the bravery needed to walk away from a career that was burning me out mentally and physically.
So, yes, some day I may own a larger house (I hope to keep it under 1000 feet) but right now I CHOOSE 425 square feet and the beauty that comes along with it. So to the kindly older gentleman who innocently suggested I was waiting out for bigger or better, I laughed and replied, “Why in the world would I want to do that?”
